Shipbuilding and shipyards
Shipbuilding and repair use JIS B2220 flanges and MARPOL shore-connection flanges alongside DIN / EN flanges. Ships built in Far East yards mostly carry JIS-standard equipment.
The MARPOL flange is the standard shore connection for a ship’s sludge and bilge discharge line; its dimensions are the same on every ship so it connects in any port.
For repairs, measure the existing flange to identify the correct standard: JIS and DIN dimensions are close but not identical.
